This experience of talking about my natural hair on camera has been a major highlight of 2016 for me.
My hair brings me so much joy and I’m proud to be sharing this labour of love with others but I can be a very shy person in certain situations. So this was forcing me to come out of my comfort zone (but in a good way).
I feel like this was the final confirmation of my liberation from societal expectations (of what a coloured girl’s hair should look like).
Because now I’m showing off my glorious locs for all to see.
